Severo G. Mendez of Waukesha passed away and was reunited with his wife Elvira on Friday, September 7, 2018 surrounded by the love of his family at the age of 94. He was born in Texas on January 31, 1924 the son of Jose and Juanita (nee Guerrero) Mendez. In 1947 he married his wife of over 70 years, Elvira (Lopez) in Mexico; she recently preceded him in death on July 25, 2018. Severo was a hard-worker and worked for International Harvester for more that 35 years. One of Severo’s greatest joys was dancing with his beloved wife.
He will be sadly missed by his proud and loving children: John Mendez, Gloria Birkholz, Esther (Ken) Crupi, Victor Mendez, Linda (Benjamin) Ramirez, Rosalinda (the late Dave) Dunton, Ruth Mendez and Hector (Ginny) Mendez along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Elvira, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Hector; son, Severo Mendez, Jr; and daughter, Elvira Yocum.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to ManorCare and Heartland Hospice for their kindness and excellent care provided to Severo and their family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
