Shirley E. Anderson, a lifelong Waukesha resident, died on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Care-Age of Brookfield at the age of 88. She was born in Waukesha on April 7, 1926 the daughter of Harry and Violet (nee Geisler) Murphy. On June 5, 1948 she married George Anderson; he preceded her in death on October 9, 1993. She graduated from Marquette University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Shirley was proud of her Irish heritage and was all about the good time, hosting many party’s for her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, walking, reading, camping and shopping, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family. She was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Mary (Michael) Champion of Elkhorn, Pat (Jim) Perry of Dousman and Michael (Cheryl) Anderson of Waukesha. She was the dear grandmother of Michele (Mike) Paulin, Michael (Colleen) Champion, Kristin (Jayson) Champion-Krueger, Maxwell (fiancée Lauren) Anderson, Tegan Anderson and Tiffany (John) Grigg and great-grandmother of Autumn, Alex, Mara, Samantha, Dylan and Hailey. She is further survived by her brother James (Carol) Murphy of Waukesha along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband George, she was preceded in death by her infant son Joseph.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 11:00AM until the time of the 1:00PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Father Howard Haase will preside. Private interment will take place. Memorials in Shirley’s name are appreciated to St. Mary Catholic Church (address above) or to the Waukesha Public Library, 321 Wisconsin Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186.
