A longtime Waukesha resident passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the age of 89. She was born in the town of Lynn, Clark Co., WI on April 20, 1929 the daughter of Carl and Blanche (nee Wittke) Sternitzky. On June 5, 1948 she married her beloved husband Henry in Loyal, WI; he preceded her in death on November 16, 2014. Shirley worked as a bookkeeper for Kuester’s Welding & Repair for many years. Along with her husband, they lived in Montello, WI for 20 years before returning to the Waukesha area in their later years. Shirley enjoyed listening to and dancing to Polka music and was an avid walker. Most of all she loved her Lord and her family.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Carla (John) Friedrich; Cheryl (Terry) Krueger and James Kuester all of Waukesha. She was the dear grandmother of Molly Friedrich, Sarah (Peter) Vodak, Marisa (Liz Tyler) Krueger, Jason (Lori) Kuester, Jaren Kuester, Jacob (Lindsey Byers) Kuester, James Kuester Jr., Joshua (Leah Kollauf) Kuester, Jericklee (Jackie) Kuester, step-grandmother of Katie (Jake) Sheteron, Emily (Craig) Muehl and Kerrie (Cameron) Johnson-Friedrich and great-grandmother of Dylan Kuester, Sophia Vodak, Emerson Kuester, Jensen Kuester, and step-great-grandmother of Austin, Josiah and Kiya. She is further survived by her sisters Arlene Kalbes of West Allis and Patty Farnsworth of Marshfield, sisters-in-law Phyllis Sternitzky, Minnie Schmidt and Isla Kuester along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Henry, she was preceded in death by her brothers Duane, Douglas and Donald Sternitzky.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha. Visitation will continue on Friday, May 18th at Mt. Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church, 1941 Madison Street, Waukesha, WI 53188 from 11:30AM until the time of the 12:30PM funeral service. Pastor Michael Turriff will preside. Graveside services will follow at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin. Memorials in Shirley’s name are appreciated to Mt. Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church.
