Shirley Ida Tysver(nee Engstrand) died Thursday July 15, 2010 at Seasons Hospice in Waukesha. She was born July 30, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Erick G. and Gladys A. (nee: Carlson) Engstrand. On August 16, 1947 she married Lee Walter Tysver he preceded her in death May 20, 1969. She will be missed by her children: Timothy (Nora) Tysver, Judy (Jeff) Tysver, Erick Tysver, grandchildren: Andres Mauricio (Joana), Juan Felipe, Santiago, Nicholas, Julian, Laura, and a great-grandson Simon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Edward Erick “Bud” Engstrand and Dale C. ”Boots” Engstrand and grandparents: Kristina Fredricka and Carl Walfred Carlson, and Ida Kristina and Swan Erik Engstrand She was raised in Minneapolis Minnesota and graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1941. After attending business college in Minneapolis, she then took a civil service job in Washington DC in 1942 at OPA and Navy Dept. (JAG office). In May of 1945 she joined the Navy and served in the Hospital Corps at the Naval Hospital in Corvallis, OR, where she met husband Lee. She was honorably discharged from the Navy in June of 1946. Together she and Lee raised their family in Fergus Falls, MN, Green Bay and Oconomowoc, WI. Shirley was a stay-at-home mom. She did volunteer work with the school health program, church, YMCA, Red Cross, and scouts. Golf and bridge became primary leisure activities. Bridge became especially important later in life when physical limitations loomed large. She enjoyed her “spot” at the Madison East YMCA water exercise program for 21 years. Family was always important. Her Tysver in-laws and her Engstrand family were ever present and ever loving and she missed her loving husband to the day she died.
