Stephanie passed on to eternal life on June 6, 2024. She was born to Mike and Vicki Mondloch of Waukesha and married Chris Davis on May 28, 2022.
Steph graduated with honors from Catholic Memorial High School and the International Baccalaureate program in 2007. She earned varsity letters in soccer, cross-country, and downhill ski racing, co-chaired the Operation Michael annual homeless awareness event, and played the flute and piano. She spent many summers enjoying family, swimming, waterskiing, and racing sailboats on North Lake.
At the University of Wisconsin – Madison, her love for science and all living things led her to earn her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Spanish with a minor in Global Health, as well as a PhD in Nutritional Sciences. She worked in several Madison-area laboratories, most recently conducting cancer research with the UW-Madison Carbone Center.
Stephanie had a passion for the underserved and volunteered generously. She joined the AmeriCorps program and supported the strong Latinx community services groups in Milwaukee and Madison, including 16th Street Clinic, Centro Hispano of Dane County and Roots4Change. She became fluent in Spanish to better connect with and serve this community. She also helped provide nutritional education and local empowerment in Ethiopia through Catholic Relief Services and the University and worked with children in Panama on a service trip with Catholic Memorial.
Stephanie was solar-powered and spent as much time in nature as she could – especially hiking, biking, running, and playing Frisbee with Chris. She ran three marathons and numerous half-marathons and other races, and was a great running buddy for Chris and her dad. She loved to dance and we called her “Happy Feet”. She loved cooking tasty, nutritious foods for friends and family – especially veggies, which she loved to grow and incorporate into her recipes.
But most of all she loved Chris and her family and friends.
Steph is kind-hearted, sweet and loving. She cared deeply about people, always reaching out to those in need and giving generously. Stephanie is truly a light in an often-dark world.
She is survived by her husband, Chris, parents, Michael J and Victoria J Mondloch, sisters Monica R Mondloch and Emily M (Brett) Lehrer. She is further survived by her in-laws Robert E and Mary E Davis, brothers-in-law Eric W and Michael E (Nicole Heit) as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Steph was preceded in death by her grandparents Alois N Mondloch, Donna M (Bell) Mondloch, Rita A (Frey) Sullivan, Richard C Derenne, Donna M Derenne (DeBauche), Alfred V Berg and her cousin Miguel Gonzales.
