Thomas Rickert

June 7, 1920 — October 20, 2009

Thomas Rickert of Pewaukee, died October 20, 2009 at AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of 89.  He was born on June 7, 1920 in Oakland, CA the son of John and Selma (nee:Aschenbach)   Rickert.  In 1938 he graduated from South Milwaukee High School.  Tom had fond memories of appearing on vaudeville as a child, dancing and playing the accordion.   He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, playing his accordion in the Army band.  In 1948 he received his degree from UW-Madison.  He had been news editor and reporter for many years at The Waukesha Freeman, writing the column “Up and Down Broadway”, he retired in 1982.  He will be sadly missed by his wife Jayne (Lubnow) Rickert, of Pewaukee, cousin Emily “Sue” Schultz of Racine, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his first wife Marjorie in 1991.  Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM November 2, 2009 at Highland Memorial Park (please meet at the cemetery office). A special thank you to the staff at AngelsGrace for all the loving care shown to Tom.  Their kindness in this difficult time will not be forgotten.
