Thomas J. “Tom” Spende, 74, of Waukesha found peace Jan. 12, 2017 after a long battle with COPD. He was born Oct. 27, 1942 to Joseph and Clara (nee: Broske) Spende. On May 18, 1964, he married the former Angeline DeVita. She preceded him in death July 31, 2007. Tom was a 1960 graduate of Boys Tech and longtime machinist at Rexnord. He is survived by his children Christine Ebert, Susan “Susie” (Ben) Diamond, Greg (Trisha) Spende, and Michael (Emily) Spende, grandchildren Shane Diamond, Nikole Ebert, and Samuel Katherine, Jack, William, Vivian, and Juniper Spende, brother- in- law and good friend John DeVita, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Also preceded in death by his brother James. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and following Wisconsin sports teams, especially the Green Bay Packers. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Tom was a trusted dog sitter for his many “granddogs” who will sadly miss him. Visitation will be Sat. Jan, 28, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 225 S. Hartwell Ave. Waukesha, WI 53186 from 11 AM until the funeral Mass at 11:30 AM and then again after Mass until 1 PM. Private inurnment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.
