Velma M. Schultz

Velma M. Schultz, of Waukesha, formerly of Marshfield, was born to Eternal life on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Seasons Hospice at the age of 96. She was born on January 28, 1917 in Clark County-Town of Grant to Reuben and Mabel (nee Brown) King. She attended Wild Rose School through the eighth grade and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1934. In 1935 she graduated from Clark County Normal Teacher’s College in Neillsville and attended several summer school sessions at Stevens Point State Teacher’s College. She taught rural elementary school for several years in the town of Sherman in Clark County.

On June 28, 1941 she was married to Robert J. Schultz at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991.

After her marriage and while her children were small and while her husband was in the Army, she worked part-time at various business places, including Stock Gro Egg Plant, Parkin’s Ice Cream, Miss Noel’s Gift Shop, Marshfield Canning Co., Montgomery Ward and Weber’s Grocery Store. Later she worked full time at Northern Auto Supply for 15 ½ years and almost 22 years at Marshfield Clinic, retiring at age 76.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Parish Council of Catholic Women, Area Missionary Society, Forum 55+, Senior Citizen Club and a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Notre Dame No. 926, the Square Dance Club, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary and a former secretary of the Wisconsin Education Association (WEA).

She enjoyed bowling, dancing, traveling, playing bingo and working and associating with others.

Velma will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

She is survived by her son Robert (Carol) Schultz of Florida, her daughter Marjorie (Donald) Purtell of Waukesha, her five granddaughters: Carla Leonhardt, Jeanne (Scott) Herman, Lisa Schultz, Gina (Jake) Busch and Cathy (Nick) Weber along with 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and her parents.

A private family funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waukesha. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield, WI.
