Verna M. Neumann

December 10, 1927 — March 25, 2021

Verna M. Neumann of Waukesha passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at Kirkland Crossings Memory Care Facility in Pewaukee Wisconsin at the age of 93. She was born on Bainbridge Island in Washington State on December 10, 1927, the daughter of Vernon and Otille (nee: Halverson) Beck. On June 14, 1941 she married Julius W. Neumann. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2007. Her sister Doris also preceded her in death. Mom was a member of the VFW Women’s auxiliary. Mom will be remembered as one who dedicated her life to her husband and children. Her hard work and dedication to her family epitomized her as the perfect example of someone known as “MOM”. The thought of an upcoming holiday dinner was enough to have family members anticipating for weeks. Even better was the prospect of transporting “leftovers” home for a future lunch. She was the ultimate cook and baker, a trait she passed on to many of us in the family. Few of us achieved her level of success but we keep trying. Mom was also an avid sports enthusiast. She would engage anyone in conversation about the starting pitching staff for the Brewers, the number of running plays the Packers attempted, as opposed to passing, during the game and the lack of rebounding that preceded a Bucks loss. Nothing unusual for a woman in her 90’s. She would often call to inform us of a sporting event on TV, just in case we were not watching. Mom loved her birds, especially cardinals. Her room at Avalon in Waukesha was adorned with wall plaques, pictures and small table top figurines, most depicting cardinals. She also had a special blanket purchased at a Chicago craft show with cardinals on display. She was incredibly proud of her children and grand children and often spoke of their success in life. Mom, we’ll all miss you very much but today we thank God as we celebrate our good fortune for having had you as our mother, grandmother, mentor and friend. We love you, rest in peace.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Jim (Mary) Neumann, Pat (Dick) Neumann, Kathy (Kenneth) Taft, Julie (John) Wolf, Douglas (Lisa) Neumann, Ann (Mark Snyder) Neumann, and Amy (Darrell) Kress and her brother Donald Beck. She is further survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday April 11, 2021 from 3:00 pm until the 4:00 pm funeral service at Randle Dable Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Rev. Katie Ebel will preside. Graveside services will be private for family members.
