Veronica L. Milling, of Elkhorn, was born to eternal life on Friday, January 9, 2015, at Seasons Hospice, after a battle with cancer, with her children by her side. She was 53. She was born in Milwaukee on September 5, 1961, the daughter of Arnold and Annie (nee Geel) Callahan. Veronica was a Purdue alumna and completed her Masters at UW-Milwaukee. She was very dedicated to her work as a school psychologist for the Elkhorn Area School District, though her influence didn’t stop there. She made a tremendous contribution to the field of psychology in Wisconsin, and is held in high esteem amongst many members of the field. Veronica touched many lives through her expertise and her gentle spirit. She was a quiet, kind, and thoughtful leader while making a huge impact on the educational, social emotional and mental health needs of children of Wisconsin. A woman of faith, she attended Fox River Christian Church where she enjoyed participation in her Journey Group. Her smile, personality and presence would brighten any room. Her two children were her pride and joy, and she will always be remembered as a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend.
To further continue Veronica’s legacy and impact she has on the lives of children, Elkhorn Area School District will be transforming a courtyard area into Veronica’s Garden—a place of peace, beauty and grace located on the grounds of Jackson Elementary. Close to the young students and staff Veronica supported so eloquently.
Beloved mother of Megan Milling of Hales Corners and Cameron Milling of Elkhorn. Adored daughter of Annie Callahan of Hales Corners, and dear sister of John Callahan of Hales Corners and Patrick Callahan of Milwaukee. Veronica is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives (grand-doggies Rufio and Venkman included) and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Arnold. So many cherished her, and she will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 2, 2015, at 5pm with memorial service to follow at 6pm at Fox River Christian Church, S46 W24130 Lawnsdale Rd (corner of Hwy 164 & Hwy I), Waukesha, WI 53189. Pastor John Mundt will preside. In lieu of flowers, memorials to benefit Veronica’s Garden are appreciated (as the project is in its infancy stage, memorials may be given in care of Megan Milling).
