Violet M. Morris of Waukesha, WI, formerly of Hermitage, PA and Hudson, FL went into Jesus’ loving arms peacefully, surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Wisconsin from Alzheimer’s disease on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at age 94. She was born in Youngstown, OH on April 7, 1926 the daughter of Stephen and Anna E (nee Baich) Antonovich. On January 28, 1948 she married Robert D. Morris in Cumberland, MD; he preceded her in death on February 24, 2012. She graduated from Youngstown State University in 1948 and was the first woman to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering from YSU. Violet was a longtime active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Sharon, PA, where she served as the church treasurer for many years and was also involved with the Lutheran Layman’s League. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in FL, and most recently, of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Waukesha. Violet served Meals on Wheels in the Shenango Valley and was a member of the Hickory Women’s Club in PA.
Violet kept an immaculate home, and always had an abundant garden from which she canned. She was an exceptional cook and made delicious baked goods including amazing Baklava and her well known fruitcake.
The family camped and went boating every year at Pymatuning Lake and Violet was known to bake pies from the berries her daughter picked. Violet and Bob enjoyed being members of the Motor Boat club for many years.
She will be sadly and dearly missed by her children, Reverend Robert S. (Karalee) Morris of San Tan Valley, AZ, and Susan A. Reed of Waukesha, WI; her grandchildren, Steven C. Morris, Rebekah J. (Michael) Milliken, Brandon D. Reed, Tyler D. Reed, Timothy R. Reed, Daniel W. Reed and USMC Cpl. Benjamin L. Reed; and great-grandchildren; Sebastian D. Reed, Jacob E. Morris, Stella M. Morris, Kaleigh A. Milliken and Andrew C. Milliken. She is further survived by other dear relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2020 from 1:30 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM all at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1205 South East Avenue, Waukesha. WI 53186. Masks or face coverings are required to attend. The Rev. Peter Schmidt will preside. Private burial will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
