Virginia J. Sorum

Virginia J. Sorum, of New Berlin, died on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Virginia Health and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 92. She was born in Kenosha on January 14, 1923 the daughter of George and Ella (nee Schneider) Hansen. She proudly served her country in the United States Navy during WWII. On October 11, 1952 she married Gordon Sorum in Kenosha; he preceded her in death in 1995. Virginia worked as a nurse for the Visiting Nurse Association for 32 years. She retired in 1985 but continued to volunteer at the VNA for 10 years. She was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Brookfield.

She is survived by her nephew George Hansen Jr. of Pine, AZ along with nieces and nephews of her husband Gordon Sorum and many dear friends. In addition to her husband Gordon, she was preceded in death by her brother George Hansen Sr.

Burial will be held privately at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin.
