Welcome Eva Koch Evans, of Waukesha, died on Friday, September 20, 2013 at LindenGrove Health Care Center, surrounded by her family at the age of 96 years. Welcome was born in Oconto, WI on October 26, 1916, the youngest child of Gustave and Alice Koch. She was given the nickname of “Honey” as a child and has been called that to this day. She moved to Waukesha with her family in 1928. She attended Waukesha High School where she met the love of her life Edward Evans. On September 12, 1936 she married Edward R. Evans at St. Matthias Episcopal Church. Like many of their generation, living through a depression and war was difficult, but hard work and the love of family and friends produced a joyful life. Honey was employed at Waukesha Motor Company and Fox’s Dairy but her favorite job was working with kids at Waukesha High School, which she did for over 25 years. She was active at St. Matthias Church as a Sunday School teacher and busy cooking and serving food at many church dinners. Her beloved Edward preceded her in death on May 20, 2003. Her life without him was difficult, complicated by illness. We are thankful for her life and love.
Honey and Edward were blessed with two children: a daughter Sandra (Robert) Flatt of Hartland, a son Edward R. (Dianne) Evans, Jr. of Waukesha, grandchildren, Linda (Scott) Erby, Steven (Laurie) Flatt, Ellen (Mark) Stephens, Pamela (Christopher) Fecke, Edward R. (Amy) Evans III, Andrew (Melissa) Evans, Danielle (Shon) Quannie and Joel (Rebecca) Templeman along with 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Edward, she was preceded in death by her brother Frank Koch and a sister Gertrude Neuman.
Private family services were held earlier in the week at St. Matthias Episcopal Church with burial at Prairie Home Cemetery.
A special thank you to the staff of LindenGrove Health Care Center and Seasons Hospice
