William A. Hoeppner, of New Berlin, died Thursday, April 18, 2019 at AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of 76. He was born on December 1, 1942, in Waukesha, the son of William and Lillian (nee Rosche) Hoeppner. He was a 1961 graduate of Waukesha South High School, where he played varsity football for all four years. He was offered a college football scholarship but decided to marry Nancy McGavock on September 7, 1963 at St. Luke Catholic Church instead. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam War. He had worked at Hoehle Drug and UPS, retiring from UPS in 1999.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Nancy of New Berlin; his brother David (Sue) Hoeppner of Salt Lake City, Utah; brother-in-law Joseph (the late Betty) McGavock nephews Donald (Lou) McGavock and Robert (Donna) McGavock; nieces Mary Jo (Robert) McGavock and Susan McGavock and. He is further survived by other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Raymond and Robert; sisters Donna, Bernice and Nancy; nephew Michael McGavock; brother-in-law Donald McGavock and sister-in-law Betty McGavock.
Visitation will be held on SATURDAY, APRIL 27, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. all at St. Luke Catholic Church, 18000 W. Greenfield Ave., New Berlin, WI 53045. Fr. Kenneth Augustine presiding. Military honors will be held following Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in William’s name are appreciated for Masses at St. Luke Catholic Church.
